NAST-I

Beginning in 2009, LR Tech performed a complete overhaul of the control and data acquisition electronics for the NASA Langley Research Center NAST-I instrument.

LR Tech upgraded the instrument using building blocks from The ASSIST and VSR instruments, including the Edgar software. LR Tech also provided engineering technical support to make this operation highly successful.

NAST-I provides experimental observations to finalize the specifications and to test proposed designs and data processing algorithms for the Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) to fly on the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS). It is also used to validate radiance measurements and geophysical products obtained from the Aqua AIRS and MODIS instruments, as well as to test retrieval methodologies under development for future satellite mission (e.g., METOP, NPP/NPOESS, and GOES-R). NAST-I supports other atmospheric research programs as well.

NAST-I is installed on various airborne platforms, such as ER2, WB57 and Proteus.
